Frequently Asked Questions
Ugh, so what's the catch?
No catch. I've spent most of my career in marketing, and over half of that in higher ed marcomms. I burned out at least twice, wound up on anti-anxiety medication for a few years, and eventually just ditched the whole fuckin' thing in favour of a job that pays less but is also a lot less stressful. But I still think it's a fasctinating area of work, and all that stress should be good for something, so why not write down what I know and share it? I don't need to "monetize" it, it's a pain in the ass.
Can I hire you to consult or take on some of the tasks detailed in these books?
Oh hell no. I've got another job now that I'm much happier with, and am only taking on freelance work for friends/colleagues with projects that seem really interesting.
Can you recommend people who do that kind of work?
Absolutely. Drop me a line and I'll share some names, both individual consultants and agencies I think are both ethical and do good work.
These books seem really long and complicated. Is marketing really that hard?
Well, I mean, you get out of it what you put into it. What I do is outline what I'd do to solve these problems, given time and capacity. Hopefully, I'm articulating things well enough that you can scale up or scale down those recommendations, or take what you like and leave the rest.
I disagree with your advice and recommendations.
That's not a question, and feel free to write your own books.
